FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

q1

Considering the recent health emergency situation in Europe due to the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus), if the conditions for the exhibition, planned to take place in November 2020, were not suitable or if there was a restriction imposed by the Spanish health authorities, would the exhibit be canceled or postponed?

If that were the case, the exhibition would be postponed and it would take place as soon as the situation allows for it, at the same art gallery we’ve announced.

q2

In which language can I submit my proposal?

Indistinctively, you can present it in Spanish or English. You can choose between the two options on the upper right part of any of the available forms.

q3

I would like to submit work on paper. If it were selected for the exhibit, would I have to send it framed or would it be possible to exhibit it without a frame?

Works on paper will have to be exhibited with a frame. However we can work with the artists to find suitable frames to be purchased in Barcelona, if the cost of shipment is excessive. The moment we’ll start planning all the details for the exhibit, we will agree with the artists on the best way to approach this aspect.

q4

I’m still unclear about your motivation behind the quota selection system you’re applying, would you care to explain it to me again?

Of course! For your information, we would like to share with you the definition of the concept of positive discrimination, made by the Spanish NGO, Intermón Oxfam, which is precisely what we are applying in our system of artistic selection by quotas, perhaps this way you will get a clearer perspective of our motivation: “In general, (positive discrimination) is aimed at those social, ethnic or minority groups that have suffered discrimination over a period of time. The way in which it is practiced is through preferential treatment in the access to certain resources, services or protections, in order to improve their quality of life.” In our ABOUT section you can find updated statistical data on the discrimination women and minority groups currently experience. Taking into account all this information, if you still believe that our initiative does not match your philosophy, we would recommend that you apply to other open calls.
